M.E.M. Industries is an established name in offering LT PVC Insulated Power and Control Cables that have Aluminum and Copper Conductors. We can offer normal insulation in PVC or HR PVC. As per client's requests, we can provide special purpose FRLS compound for outer as well as inner sheath. Below we have mentioned some standard constructional characteristics of PVC Insulated Heavy Duty Cables, which are according to the IS: 1554 (Part- 1) standards:

Conductor
Annealed copper or aluminum of electrolytic grade having high conductivity is used to construct the conductor. As a standard, the conductor of every power cable is made of aluminum and the control cables are made of copper. On special requests of client, we can provide power cables with copper conductor.


Insulation
Compounded PVC is used for insulation on the conductors through the process of extrusion. For standard application, PVC insulation Type A (70C) and for HR PVC insulation Type C (85C) as per IS:5831 (1984) is provided.


Laying-up

The cables are laid in circular manner and for this thermoplastic fillers are used in the interstices, wherever required.


Inner Sheath

The inner sheath surround the laid-up cores and these can be any of the:

  • Extruded PVC.
  • Wrapping of Plastic Tapes.

There is no inner sheath in the cable with single core. But these can be provided on special request as an extra feature.

Armoring
You can use PVC Power Cables in armored or unarmored types, depending on the application or uses. For instance:

Steel Wire or Strip

  • For single-core cables, the armoring is done over the core insulation
  • For multi-core cables, the armoring is done over the inner sheath

Galvanized Round Steel Wire is used as armoring material, in case the measured nominal diameter over the inner sheath or insulation is less than 13mm. In case the calculated diameter does not belong to the said range, then Steel Strip or galvanized round steel wire can be used. Both these material are in conformation to IS:3975. The directions of outer layer is always opposite to the one in which armor is laid.

Outer Sheath

The outer sheath of PVC Power cables is made of suitable grade PVC Compound which is applied by using the process of extrusion. As a standard, the color of outer sheath is black; other colors can be provided as per special request of client
